How do we cut emissions in half by 2020?
Bridge to a Cool Planet supports the KYOTOplus target of cutting emissions in half by 2020. A recently released report, Climate Leadership, Economic Prosperity, offers us a clear set of recommendations for accomplishing this goal.
Climate Leadership, Economic Prosperity, published by the Suzuki Foundation and Pembina Institute and based on modelling conducted by Mark Jaccard + Associates, provides a coherent set of policies for reducing emissions and a credible estimate of the cost of cutting emissions in half by 2020.
We won't see a more legitimate, independent analysis of the path forward (and we haven't received one from government either; Ottawa has yet to put forth a plan for meeting its own, very inadequate emission reduction targets).
We can cut emissions in half in the next 10 years. As this new report shows, we can do it while still maintaining a vibrant economy too. However, we need to act now.
Please email your MP today, ask them to read the report and urge them to support its recommendations, or else provide an alternative plan to cut emissions in half by 2020 at the same or lower cost. You can look up your MP's email address here:
